Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
An important official stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
